Last Sunday worship of the last year was opened for testimonies. While listening, I was ashamed. I wasn't pay attention more often and practice as much as possible. By the end of year, I already forgot the verse, along with all the prayer items I wrote. But this is me, still have a lot of things to learn.
This year, the verse is in Romans 5:11 (Amplified), "Not only so, but we also rejoice and exultingly glory in God [in His love and perfection] through our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom we have now received and enjoy [our] reconciliation." So it is a year of joy. I thought of several things that brings joy. First, God's word brings out joy, either through acknowledge or doing them. Second, being content and lack of nothing in my life. Third, always fix eyes on Him. Lastly, trust, obey and give thanks.
Pray and hope to understand and being joyful more this year.

0162. WHEN I SAY, "I AM A CHRISTIAN"
Eventhough this poem has been there for a long time, it still moves me every time I read it.
WHEN I SAY, "I AM A CHRISTIAN"
When I say, "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting, "I’ve been saved!"
I'm whispering, "I get lost!
That's why I chose this way"
When I say, "I am a Christian"
I don't speak with human pride
I'm confessing that I stumble—
Needing God to be my guide
When I say, "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong
I'm professing that I'm weak
And pray for strength to carry on
When I say, "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting that I've failed
And cannot ever pay the debt
When I say, "I am a Christian"
I don't think I know it all
I submit to my confusion
Asking humbly to be taught
When I say, "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are all too visible
But God believes I'm worth it
When I say, "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartache,
Which is why I seek His name
When I say, "I am a Christian"
I do not wish to judge
I have no authority...
I only know I'm loved

0161. The Black Breaded Bible Man
I made my mind to see this show when I saw the advertisement a few months back. You could also say I am lazy. This is the faster way to understand Dr. MacKay.
The drama was written by Taiwaners. I couldn't tell whether it is good or bad 'cause my understanding of music is still limited. On the other hand, I was amazed by the stage and the actor. The stage used several U shape platforms, which have adjustable hight on either side of platform. It used different hight to create different views such as in boat and mountain side. The actor who portraits MacKay is a Caucasian and is popular lately in New York. Most of his lines or singing is in Taiwanese except a small part. His pronunciation of Taiwanese is not so bad in the drama.
I feel that I am not taking serious and faithful to God after watching this show. I am hoping I will truely know God and follow faithfully.

Today, it is off-site meeting. We went to Green Breeze Chateau, Tao Yuan store. I was surprised by the backyard. It certainly doesn't feel like in Taiwan.

0159. Business Trip
My leader sent me a chat message and told me that I should prepare for a business trip. I didn't get full details until the next day. Basically, there was an urgent usability test. After negotiation, half of the team was assigned to support this test. All the preparation had to be done within two weeks. Preparation included pre-arranging test subjects, device preparation, travel arrangement etc. One member was assigned to fly Japan, along with other teams' members. Another member and I were assigned to fly local office in North America. I was not excited because all the rush and I already been there last year.
The Wednesday before we left for the testing, we were afraid of short of subjects. So I was re-assigned to fly Europe office. This meant the other memeber and I were along to do the experiment alone. I also had to change travel arrangment and asked support from Europe office within three days. I remember all of us couldn't left office on the Friday until after 10.30PM. It was because we had to get everything ready that day, especially I was the first to fly out and started the experiment first.
At the end, the trip was successful. Thank God for that. I appreciated to go somewhere I never been. The only pity is that since I only had one week and the flight were fully booked, I didn't get any free day on my own. Oh well, let's hope for the next time.

0158. Mr. Mark Bakery
A friend introduced the multi-grain bread from Mr. Mark bakery a while ago. Bread is not my first choice of food. But I love multi-grain bread after trying it. Now, Mr. Mark bakery opened a store nearby where I live. I purchased some when I passed by a few days ago.
Multi-grain bread is more expensive than the regular ones. I prefer them, besides good taste, mainly because nuitrition. Multi-grain bread usually has many ingridents that we don't normally eat and more than ten kinds of them. It certainly balance my nuitrition, especially I dine out all the time.
Besides eat with milk or coffee, I also eat at lunch or dinner. Two piece of thick bread with pre-made package from MacKay Hospital is a good portion for lunch or dinner.

0157. Rainboots
I was looking for something to wear during raining day. This is because I walk to work most of time. I don't want to wear good shoes in the raining day. Too much water will shorten shoe life, especially shoes I like.
Early this year, I found a pair of rain boots. The height is about my mid-calf, which is a good height. The big different from those plastic working boots or traditional yellow raining boots is style. It still made by plastic materials but with a little heel and pretty prints. So ladies can wear them for work as well. I enjoy it a lot during raining days. People would ask me where did I get them. I found it so convenient. Not only I can wear in the raining day, also when I cleaning the balcony.
The same company also made a shorter height version. I do have quite a few friends wearing shorter height boots. But I found it is not good for me because I walk a lot and fast. Heigher boots is better.

0156. Millet Paintings

I spent the whole Saturday on viewing Millet paintings, espacially "Les Gleanuses Salon" and "The Angelus". It seems like this is the only chance we will see those paintings outside of Musee d`Orsay, Paris. I have to say it is worthy to spend 250 bucks, even though there is long wait inline. There are paintings from Millet and the related painters.

I am not going into all the details of Millet and the show itself. I am only going to write my thoughts on four paintings.
Les Gleanuses Salon (The Gleaners)
Year: 1857
Paint: Oil on canvas
Size: 83.5 x 111 cm
Location: Musee du Louvre, Paris
This painting not only lets me think about Ruth and Boaz , but also reminds me work hard, which both the Lord and apostles reminded us this as well.
The Angelus
Year: 1857-59
Paint: Oil on canvas
Size: 55 x 66 cm
Location: Musee d`Orsay, Paris
There is something deep within me which hard to describe when I see this painting. I thought about pray in every situation not just heard the evening bells. It is calling and looking up to the Lord at any given time. It also reminds me our pastor mentioned , in our Tuesday Bible study, that God takes over a place starting from prayers. Revival starts at breaking and wrestling in the prayer.
Shepherdess with her flock
Year: 1864
Paint: Oil on canvas
Size: 81 x 101 cm
Location: Musee d`Orsay, Paris
I enjoy this painting a lot but I could not tell why.
Spring
Year: Spring at Barbizon, 1868-73
Paint: Oil on canvas
Size: 86 x 111 cm
Location: Musee d`Orsay, Paris
It gives the feeling of new life and new start. The rainbow tells us that the sky will clear up after rain stops. No matter how difficulty life is, it will pass one day. God said there will never cover the earth with flood. The rainbow is the proof and His promises never change.

0155. The Snow Show
Last Saturday morning, I went to the breakfast shop around the corner as usual. I flipped through newspaper while enjoying my brunch. At the entertainment section, there was a post about show grabbed my attention. I scaned throught the content. Be honest, I have no memories of what it was said on the paper, but SNOW. But it did persuade me to purchase the ticket the next day. The price was not cheap, comparing to the concert I attened. Because of the price, I chose the seat on the second floor.
I rushed from work to The National Theater on Thursday night. It's very rare to hear music playing before the show starts. The music was already playing, kind of announcing what was coming. I think it also helpled audience get into the show mood. I looked around me. There were many white, small retangular paper lying around, very SNOW like. On the first floor, I saw an unual short wall behind the front row. The stage was in mid-night blue. I anxiously waiting for the show to started. But something disturbing was happened. A group of ladies around me were chatting merrily before the show. They were so into their coversation that didn't even notice the show started, which was really annoyed.
The entire show is acting with music and some singing. I am not fully understanding the story. My interpretation is presenting audience the relationship between two people and people around them. But what put a smile on my face is at the break time. Before the break, they got the cotton-made spider net all over the first floor. During the break, they come out to play with audience, climbing between rows of chairs, spreading waters, etc. After the show, there were many balls, large or small, to play with, and never ending picture taking. That was a fantastic evening. I would recommend to go if they come again.
ps. In the program guidebook, this group influences some performing of Cirque du Soleil, which one of my favorite show groups. And I was surprised to find out Cirque du Soleil would come to Taiwan perform next year!

0154. Days With Many Things Came
I keep having something happening after I returned from my vacation at Vancouver. I sent my computer to fix because hard drive has broken track last month. Praise the Lord, it was broken at OS, not data sectors. Then I suddenly couldn't find my flash drive which has tax return information. I found it later that day after scaring myself. Computer at work was not running smoothly last week. Some files couldn't access properly. So I sent to MIS for check and the result is the same as my computer, broken tracks. This morning, I couldn't find my wallet, which also have my employee ID. I still have no clue where it is. If I couldn't find the wallet, I am losing NT$3000. Also after my vacation, there is no break in my work. I smell work direction change two weeks ago. Even though it is not confirmed yet, we are getting busier than before.
I remember Pastor Tsao said a few weeks ago, that God always let him very busy at certain period of time, like everything comes all at same time. Maybe I am in the same situation as well. I admit that I am feeling low recently. I think it is because lots of work to do and also affected by someone else. I was affected by our team leader, who is under great pressure. I didn't deal with this feeling low. All I focus was finishing work early to go home. Today, I was sharing with a sister. She reminded me to be still in the Lord. Yes, be still, what I need to practice right now.

0153. 40 Years
I went to The King's Singers concert last night. I had their collection CD last year through someone else. Their songs are from classical to pop. Their voices are nice. So I didn't want to miss their concerts in Taipei this year! They have two concerts in Taipei this year, with different songs. I want to attend both but I have to give up the Jazz I want to hear since I have church meeting at same time. I am glad at least I still have a chance to watch live concert. Even though this is only pure human voices, they still have funny physical acts based on the songs they sang. Those acts made us laugh. They also surprise us by singing Chinese songs, though it is not completed understood what they are singing.
I notice that they are a 40-years-old vocal group while reading their story. This year happens to be their 40th year. Even thought they do have member change several times, but a 40-years-old pop group is very rare in the history. This reminds me that ShenKun Church just celebrated their 40th year and Grandma Taylor spent her 40th year in ShenKun as well. Moses' three 40 years also pop into my mind. I believe Moses' last 40 years and Grandma Taylor's 40 years are getting God's approval. Moses was very humble in his last 40 years, like a sheep-warrior. He was totally obedient to God, which is why he had a victorious life. Grandma Taylor gives her best time of life to God and faithfully stays in ShenKun 40 years. I believe those are make God smile.
The same 40 years but different rewards. Just what said in the "Purpose Driven Life", we must treat the days on earth is a guest so we will not too attach to whatever on earth. This is what I need to ponder on more deeply.

0152. [Music Share] Total Priase
This is another song I have been listening a lot, Total Praise. This version is sang by Avalon. I am not sure this is a traditional hymn but I can not help to keep listen over and over again though the words are simple. Maybe this is because I need those words lately :)
Total Praise
Lord, I will lift, mine eyes to the hills
Knowing my help is coming from You
Your peace, You give me in time of the storm
You are the source of my strength
You are the strength of my life
I lift my hands in total praise to You
Amen, Amen
Amen, Amen
Amen, Amen
Amen, Amen

0151. [Music Share] Before the Throne of God Above
Chris Rice is one of my favorite gospel singer. I have his intrumental album of hymns. Recently, he published another hymn album. This time, he sang instead just play. I just heard this song and crab the lyrics on the net. Can't wait to share :)
Before the Throne of God Above
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.
Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!

0150. Spiritual Gifts (2008.0427)
As usual, Pastor Wei asked whoever returned to Vancouver must brought spiritual gifts. After my vacation ends, someone asked me what I had shared. What I prepared was not exactly what I said and I couldn't remember exactly what I said either. So this post will list the points I had prepared.
1. Expert = Earnest (Take seriously)
. Day April 26th of Daily Manna by Hans R. Waldvogel: Lots of people fail in the crisis times in their lives because they are not stored with the Word.
. Starting from May 5th of 2005, I, together with sisters in the church, memorize Bible verses. We use the must-remember list from Pastor Tsao. We test each other each Sunday though we may postpone for some situations.
. I used to memorize Bible verses while commuting, before I moved to current location.
. Also listening to God's word while working.
2. Recently, we are talking about victorious life in Shi-Lin
. See things as none of my business; I will not be affected whatever others have been.
. Do not play or do business with God, but God does play chess with us.
. What are the principles which I should hold firmly and not altered easily - Those principles will reduce the misunderstanding and confusion of understanding God's will.
. Bitterness is drinking the poison myself and waiting for my opposite to die.
. Our past is like our own museum. There are quite a few things we lock in the storage room cause we didn't want people to see them. Usually, those locked in the storage are the moments that we don't want to remember. However, those memories will escape from the storage room from time to time. Those memories do not have power over us when we can put them into the show room for others to appreciate. If we want to get away those memories, the fastest way is replacing them with new and beautiful memories.

0149. On Vacation
I don't feel like writing blog?! Not sure if it is because I haven't written for a while.
Finally, I am on two-week vacation. Last time, it was well over an year. But Vancouver is surprisingly chilly. I heard this April has record low temperature. It even snowed on the night I arrived in Vancourver. My mom said Vancouver welcome me with snow. There is a big weather gap between Taipei and Vancouver. It was hard to decide what clothings to take with me. I am glad I throw in few winter clothing at the last minute, since the suit case had some more room. The only thing that I regret I didn't bring with me is my long boots.
Everyone here asks me whether and when I will be moving back. Well, I would like to but God hasn't given me a clear signal yet. So wait for another while. In the next few days, I will visit my prof and a software company. They also plan a hiking over weekend. Rest of time, besides some personal to-do, I hope to read a bit. Two weeks fly fast.
And right now, I have a little hard to sleep at mid-night. Time difference is just not easy to adjust.

0147. Having Fun
Just two working days after Chinese New year break, I already taking days off to have fun. Well, of course I got invitation from someone else otherwise I will be in the office! But I am not used to go out with those who do not have to work and no plan. It is a challenge to me since I have to work. It was good there was a overall plan, otherwise I couldn't stand it.
We went to Tainan visiting two historic spots and some local foods. But the foods are not what I heard from TV or magazines. Local people took us to dine different taste. We stayed at a friend's apartment in Kaohsiung. The next day, we went to National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium. Because the long distance, we only had half day over there. It was not enough! I want more. So I will find another chance to go there. The third day, I took a long walk around the Love River in Kaohsiung and then headed home first.
I think I should travel with plan myself. I can see my future trips includes Tainan local foods that I didn't get to have this time and visitor attractions, National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, and other visitor attractions in Kaohsiung.

0145. Out of Immunity
Mom and Dad came. The days are a little mix-up. One thing which doesn't change after I worked at Taiwan is this: I can't the nag. I am totally out of immunity when it comes to nag. So, it has been arguements, more nagging, then silence. Communication level is at very low end.
I am wondering that I am only an unfinished work. Why always measure me with the final product standard?

0144. Work Swirl (18)
After New Year, the big news is the division of I was with had changes. The software planning team I stay with is now moved under product marketing. There are not much changes at this point. Work to do or the process is about the same. I didn't change my seat either. The other day, a colleague just realize my team is reviewing everything from the beginning to the end. As for myself, I wish to contribute more useful data in this year.

0142. [Email Share] Daily Rules from God for 2008
Daily Rules from God for 2008
1. Wake Up!!
Decide to have a good day. "Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24
2. Dress Up!!
The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart." I Samuel 16:7
3. Shut Up!!
Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. "He who guards his lips guards his soul." Proverbs 13:3
4 . Stand Up!!
For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.. "Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good..." Galatians 6:9-10
5. Look Up!!
To the Lord. "I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me." Phillippians 4:13
6. Reach Up!!
For something higher. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, And He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6
7. Lift Up!!
Your Prayers. "Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING." Philippians 4:6
God answers Knee-Mail.

Now, I can't remember much of first half of the month. Second half of the month was focus on Christmas. As usual, we had Christmas dinner and celebration, Children's Christmas celebration and Carolling at Hospital. Last thing to finish this year is the prayer meeting.

0139. God takes over things that I let go
[Reflection of Sermon] The Holy Spirit who he is and what he does I
Scripture: Eph 5:18
** Who is he? **
Jn 14:16-21; 1 Jn 2:1
Counselor, the Spirit of truth
In Greek, it has the meaning of lawyer, helper, counselor, comforter.
Holy Spirit is a different form of Jesus.
Jesus was counselor to disiples while he was on earth (Lawyer and encouragement).
R. A. Torey: How shall Holy Spirit gain me and use me?
** My reflection **
What are the things which I shall let go and let God take over?
. Ambition
. Future
. Health
. Unsatisfied

0138. Love Muji
I metioned in the last blog about Muji. Let me say more about their products.
After I came back to Taiwan, I have visited Muji from time to time. My brother introduced this store to me. And I like the simple style they have. Many objects are so simple which I can do some painting on them whenever I feel like it. I started to check their stationary and some travel-size bottles. Last year, I checked out their clothing and storage boxes/tools. I like their clothings because most of them are made by cotton and/or linen which are comfortable to wear. Storage boxes/tools have tones of varierty. Here are some prodcuts I enjoyed. Like pen, the pen outside is made stronger than most of pen I know. So just change to the ink most of time. They have a double usage pen, pen and mechanical pencil together. Just twist the pen to select pen or pencil. It's very nice and good to use. Their storage bag is good too. I used it as separation within a big bag. I just move the storage bag when I need to change bag. Things from Japan have good quality which I trust.
I usually don't pay attention to the design details. Lately, Muji has a promotion activity, which shows the design logic behind the product. Now I know the reason why their products are good. Beside the storage bag I just metioned, there are several other products. One product is a stationary bag, A4 or A5 size. It is not thick, have many pen holders on the side, and two big pockets outside. Like storage bag, I just move things from original bag to another by moving this stationary bag. Another design is a extra hole on the tips of umbrella. It is used to quickly spot your umbrella by tie a string or something on the hole. I also use that hole to hang the umbrella in the office after I used it. Oh, and this umbrella is quick to dry. They also sell one kind of socks which is only covers the bottom of feet (good when ladies doesn't want to wear panty horse). Their socks can stay on the feet without falling of so easily like other brands. The reason is that their design is 90 angled.
This is how I fall in love with it!

0137. What shall leave at alter?
[Reflection of Sermon] Heavenly Melody in the Heart I - Longing for God
Scripture: Gal 1:13-17; Phil 3:3-16
. He is an artist knife turning defects to merit.
. Is Chist my beloved/treaure in my heart?
. Anthing that take this place shall treat as rubbish and shall leave at alter -> Take me away from longing fro God
What shall leave at alter? Maybe emotion, maybe ambition.
** My reflection **
What shall I put on the alter?
. Emotion
. Heart
. Thoughts
. Enjoy good material things
. Control

0136. Notebook
Recently I was reading some financial magazines and decided to do better control of my financial. So I surf the net to find some book keeping notebook information. I accidentally found this Japaneses notebook. I found this from a Chinese mobile web forum site. I dig into this and found many ways of using it. It can be used not only as a notebook or book keeping, but also put clips, class notes, photos, weight change record. Many of those who used this notebook and shared their experience have several notebooks at one time. It is not very big, pocket size. So finally, I ordered it. Now I am waiting to receive the goodies and try it myself.
Upto this point, I have to say I love those goods made from Japanese. Muji is an example. Their goods are a little expansive but friendly to use. From stationary, little bottles and cans, to clothings and household stuff, many of them are great and friendly to use. Sometimes, I wonder whether I am too luxury.

0135. Little things happened
Today, I wear a pair of gray shoes my mom and I brought early this on the street side. They are cheap but comfy. But close the end of day, I found the bottom piece of left shoe is missing and later the right one falls out too. So it is officially going into the trash can.
And, surprisingly I had a heavy headache, which been a long time since I had a headache. Maybe because the cold air.
One more thing, I have been using 3G to get on to the net. I am going to switch to 3.5G. It is faster and nicer now because it has USB adapter now. I just need to get it work for my mac.

0134. Work Swirl (17)
July, we moved to a new building to work. Time flies fast. It is almost four months passed by. At work, there are good and bad things. Even though I am working within my specialty, but often feel like being a QA. It is hard to knowing what top management desires. Quite a few left the company. Right now, I think I am getting into the mood of leaving again, though not that strong. Tired!

0133. A little note
Today is Taiwan national holiday. Michael and Mei were just back from their trip to North America. So I visited them at their apartment. Michael cooked spaghetti and baked brownies. We had a good time. They also got me a new iPod nano.

0132. Interesting Stuff I found
Today, I went out with a friend. She took me to check out some cool places such as a stationary store, art supply stores, and a cosmetic store. Well, this type of cosmetic store sells not only cosmetic also variety of stuff, kitchenware, household supply and food.
Those bottles of soft drink are one of interesting stuff I found Today. They are actually transparent bottles. I thought this is really cool to see how much is drink!
Another thing I found is this. I heard a brand name could sell like couple hundred dollars. But in this door, it only costs $40 dollars.
It is actually a cup cover. I tried it on my mug. This is what it looks like.

0131. Where is Autumn???
They said, the weather should turn to cool after moon festival (late September). But so far, day light temperature is still over 30 degree celcius. Not only that, we are having a typhoon this weekend. This is definitely wired.
This summer is not very easy for me since I am still used to Vancouver cooler weather. I am very slowly to adjust to this hot weather. It's amazing how our body systems work. It adjusts to the environment by itself. Really amazing!

0130. Guidance
Our CEO said in one of the interview that the innovation is not a me-too product. Even though working in this company is not easy, I have to admit that he has a special view of everything, which makes the company where it is. I admire those who can put all their lives to work but I don't envy them. I am not going to deny the fact that I still wish to go back to North America even though I have no idea when. Recently, I have read a little book by Philip Yancy, about Guidance. I suddenly excite to see God's guidance next time. One thing I am sure of is the proof of peace within.

0129. Kokonotsu
Play Sudoku for a while. There are several reason that I enjoy playing. First, my major was pure Mathematics in University. Second, I had done some study on this topic in last year at University. (I will organize my study and present this another time.) Third, I never can resist those puzzles. Forth, it is good way to procrastinate.
Sudoku is one of the Magic Square. Magic Square is nxn square slots and fill in 1-n2 in each nxn slot. The sum of each row, column or diagonal must the same. Sudoku is variant of 9x9 magic square which only use 1-9. In addition, 1-9 only present once in row and column, as well as in each 3x3 square within the 9x9 square.
The end of April of this year, I found a more challenge game. It is called Super Sudoku or Kokonotsu. It has one more game rule - 1-9 only present once in diagonal as well. I found a web version of this game, www.kokonotsu.info. It takes a long time to solve. Try it when you have lots of time to spare.

0128. Music and Radio
Besides a radio and computers, I did install the TV in my apartment. That's because I am very easy to stay in front of TV whole day. Also, I didn't have a TV set to begin with. My brother sent over his old TV set couple months back. He specifically told me to get the cable. After those months, I didn't touch it a bit. I don't have much time after work. Mostly, time is taken by the house chores. So rather, I turn the radio. I found this radio show, named "love you 22 hours" (because the time it broadcast is at 22 hour). Most of time, the conversation in the radio show is meaningless. But it is good way to relax after a whole day work.
I had been hestitated to go for a concert or opera. Lately, I have taken steps to go for three concerts -- A'Cappella ExpreSSS, Cotton Club Singers, Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion. They are great. I haven't attended one that I didn't enjoy. I am going to keep going once or twice each month.
ps. I don't think many will go to those concert alone like me. I wish I am not alone.

0126. Blue
I am so blue these two days. Many frustrations and things I can not do too much of are piling up suddenly. In addition, I am so tired and sleepy most of the time. Today, I put on earphones and listening to music. This song from Jeff Ma flows out - "Discovery of Heart". The lyrics is about thinking flying high above like sparrows, to see if there is new discovery. And we will slowly discover God is so beautiful. The rhym is light and turns off my blue mood. Music does make a difference. Thanks God.
Note: Jeff Ma was a famous singer in Taiwan who recently past away.

0125. After Typhoon Left
Today, I cleaned the front and back balconies, as well as kitchen floor. I planned to do this cleaning Yesterday. But typhoon came by with strong wind and heavy rain. So I decided to the cleaning after typhoon left. At the end of cleaning, my thought jumps back to the old time.
All these days, I have been living alone. Part of living alone, the whole apartment is under my care. Even though the apartment is not mine, the chores and the hygiene are the same. I have been learning those bits by bits since I went to college (well, maybe I should say pay more attention to it). From applying accounts to recently refrigerator problem I have, I am grateful for these experiences. Moreover, it has been chanllenge to balance life and work. Work is heavy and the chores are still there. Finding time to maintain the good living space is not that easy. And I am still struggling. I am glad all the difficulties and chanllenge right now - before marriage.
p.s. One of reason I decided to clean my balconies is the cat problem I have lately. Two cats have been playing in the front balcony and damaged the plants. Also there are wild cats, which may have some flea. Cleaning balconies (with bleach) will help reduce any potential problem of hygiene. And hopefully, cats will be away because the bleach smell.
pps. I felt pretty good after this big cleaning.

0124. Typhoon Day
Typhoon day, a good day stay home doing what I like. Besides crafting, I was on the internet and listening to the radio. Two subjects got my interests: Travel
Danny's Travel Blog (Chinese only) and a singer Freyar. Danny travels and write tool books. This will be a good reference when I need to travel for myself. As for singer Freya Lin, she has great voice. I heard her singing of "Kiss Me" - it's a fun version which worth listening. Another thing got my attentions are a sand animation artist Ilana Yahav. It is amazing to watch the video clips.
Today's craft I done: A box from milk carton box, 4 cards, two half-done frame/card. The progress is not too bad. Original plan of balcony cleaning postponed because the bad weather.

0123. Quote from Augustine of Hippo
Oh ! how shall I find rest in Thee ? Who will send Thee into my heart to inebriate it, that I may forget my woes, and embrace Thee my only good ? What art Thou to me ? ~Augustine of Hippo (Saint Augustine) in The Confessions Book I
(my reflection)
What a prayer! I was touched by the Chinese translation and find out the original text. I am now interesting to read the entire Saint Augustine's The Confessions.

0122. Miscellanies
Okay, I am lazy to cover every single thing for this period of time. So here is a quick cap on what happened in the past few months.
- On a business trip to Seattle from 18th April - 6th May
- Someone said I am excellent. Well, I just don't see it from my point of view. I just have many interests and know a bit of more...
- Service notes: Meek/Gentle (praus, classic Greek) = Strength under perfect control (by God); A kind of Wisdom
- Find a mini blog: Twitter
- Another business trip to Beijing from 23rd - 28th July.

0121. Business Trip
This is the wired business trip I have. First of all, monthly friend decided to visit on Tuesday. Then, I got sick when I woke up on Wednesday. Thursday was the worst, stuffing nose while trying very hard to pay attention to paper presentation. So I was tired from the very beginning of this trip. Well, the best way to recover is to rest and lots of liquid. So I drink lots of water and sleep as much as I can. The amazing part is how fast I got recovered - I am almost recovered when I got up this morning.

0120. CoffeeCat with Gina
Today, we had two guests to share in the fellowship, Coffee Cat and her friend Gina. They brought the idea of Contemporary Christina Music. I knew this type of music while I living in Canada. The music they brought combines the music style I like. I was totally enjoyed myself. Gina is planning to publish an album later this year. She said they pray more often than writing or record songs. I was really impressed. Their visit reminds me the days my friend and I having fun with songs...

0118. Visitation
I always remember the days that I visited Philippine workers. Someone mentioned that those Philippine workers who worked at nursing homes needs our visitation. They don't have holidays and their works are not easy. I was asked because English speaking was required. Every second Saturday afternoon, I would got and visit until my work required me to work on Saturdays. We usually sang some hymns, shared some God's word, asked what were their needs and prayed for them. Those days, God used the visitation to strength me and those visitations became my blessing. I never stopped my visits because of my personal reasons. Sometimes, I had things that bothered me. Another times, I was so tired. I got renewed and refreshed every time I finished the visitation. I am hoping I will have time to do visitations again, 'cause it is really a great experience.

0117. Design and Living
My parents and I had a brief time with Uncle Yeh and Aunt Kong. We sat at their living room and found their apartment is well-used. They co-worked with the interior designer to design the living room. Uncle Yeh said "The interior designers don't visit the houses (or apartments) they did the design. Those designs are ruined after a few years. A lot of people don't live in the style of those designs." I totally agree. I have my own living style. If the house design is not fit to my life style, the design is pretty much useless to me. And very soon, my own living habits will turn the place to fit into my style. The original house design is just a waste.
What is my living style? I haven't figured that all out yet. But one is for sure. I would like to have a big study room - for computer(s), books, and crafts. The room will need a very good lighting, lots of shelves, computer desk/work table and maybe a nice couch. That's all I can think of right now :)

0116. Random Thoughts
I never thought of how I wear when I was at North America. It seems like most of people don't dress up for a casual out (e.g. grocery shopping), unless you always do. People, at least I thought, usually wear a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. Well, in Taiwan, people pay attention to the style even with jeans and T-shirt. I am used to think clean and neat are enough. But adding a little style is fun and enjoyable.
I often want to hide myself when I felt uncomfortable or not sure what to do. Partially, it is from my family. I also think I didn't have strong and frequent interactions with people in past. Coming back to Taiwan, under the strong and frequent people interactions, forces me to learn facing whatever comes to me. Good part of this is discovering ME that I don't know and the problems in ME. I suppose this is one of the reasons that God wants me back to Taiwan.

0115. Get on to the net
Tonight, I finally get my mac go online at home. Last summer, I went to get a 3G SIM card with GPRS enabled only. I didn't get the ADSL or Cable because I was about to move within a couple of months and I have a PPC from office which can be used as a modem. Also, 3G SIM card gives me the flexibility to move around. However, setting up with a Windows based PC or notebook is easy, but not with mac. After a few attempts, I still didn't successfully set up mac yet. I clean my office and found an ethernet line lying around, so mac now is connecting to web via my notebook and PPC modem. The speed is not fast as ADSL or Cable, but at least I don't have to do file transfer. I can also now post my blog online from home.

0114. New year resolution & other notes
(Notes during Bible Study 20070116)
. We should make new year resolution. Here is why: climb up whenever we can even though we often slide down. Don't just go down straight to the bottom. At least try to climb up every time we have a chance. And maybe one day we will reach the top.
. We can have a good habit by making it happen.
. Pay attention to what is my opinions about God; meaning thinking of God
. Pay attention to the inner voice

0113. Winter Conference Notes
I was asked to share my harvest of this winter conference at the last meeting before leaving Vancouver. Here is the summary of that sharing.
- Knowing God
This is a reminder. Uncle Martin mentioned this on the afternoon of the second day. We may read the Bible often, worship God and sing praises and songs without knowing God. When we turn those activities into routines, none of Bible scripture we read and the songs we sang come into our hearts. This is also the reason that the behind will catch up.
- Work on the problems in my life
Sister Gerta told a story of a minister. He was a good minister except he had a ill temper. He never worked on his temper. His ill temper could get him hit his wife so his wife suffered a lot. After their kids grew up, his wife asked for a divorce. What a tragic.
Past a few years, God has showed the problems in my life. I didn't pay attention to them. This minister is a good mirror to me. I have to start to work on the problems; otherwise I will regret when I grow old. - "I am fine."
Ask Sister Gerta her preference of hot or cold water. Her answer was both are okay. Sometimes, we should learn not to have too much of our own opinion. It's hard for those who serve us when we are so picky on everything.
- Verse of 2007
The verse of this year is Psalm 32:8.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you and watch over you.
Several times in the past year, Pastor Tsao mentioned something like donot-move-till-you-are-sure type of message whenever I thought about job change. I felt confused. This verse comes as a comfort to me, knowing God is fully in control, instructing my walking and watching over me.

0111. White
This morning when I got up looking out the window, everything was white! What a surprise! The whole vacation was clear sky with a little rain but no snow at all. Perhaps this is the gift from God for Eva and me. Eva wants to see snow badly while I haven't seen snow for three years. And I got to do one of my favourite activities - shelving snow. Thanks, Big Daddy the God, nice gift on the last day of my vacation :) (I took some photos, which you may view in my album.)

0110. Almost going home with bare feet
I went to Vancouver, home sweet home, on December 20th. But before I went on to the airplane, I found one of my shoes is broken. The pair of shoes is from Clark and I had it for at least four years now. It is one of my favorite pair because it is good for both skirts and pants. It's a pity that the only broken area is the inner seamline of right shoes. There is no way to repair this shoe either. I was worried that I couldn't make it home. I didn't plan to purchase a new pair of shoes early. The only other pair of shoes I have is high heel. It's impossible to wear the high heel every time I go out. The good thing is at least I have a pair of hiking boots left at home. Now just wait for boxing day to get a new pair.

0109. Study Notes - 20061212
(This is notes jogged down during Bible Study at ShiLin Zion Church, Tuesday Dec 12th of 2006.)
- I shouldn't live like a begger when I am a son of God. God's characters and Power are on me and I can overcome my weakness!
- Only myself can make myself unhappy.
- Believe I have then I have. (Mark 11:24)
- Prayer is not for asking God to give. It is for us to understand that God wants to give us and we just need to stretch out our hands to take or receive.

0108. Hospital visitations
Today, I went to see two elderly people with three sisters. The first one we visit was Stella's grandfather. Her grandpa is lying on the bed and unable to talk. Stella feared that her grandpa would pass away without knowing Christ at all. While we were there, we sang and talked to the old man. Because its closer to Christmas, we sang a song named "a present" to him in the middle. I thought he was touched by it because I saw tears. We are not sure how he felt and thought. But it touched me that he understood. Later, one of the sister said that my singing was like an angel and my prayer voice was soft and nice. Honestly, I don't know how to response to that. But thank God for the gifts of voice.
Then, we went to see grandmother of a sister. We had to speak Taiwaness, which I am not good at. She was tired when we got there. But before we left, she had smile on her face. And we all were happy because we had good time with her. She knows she is a child of God. That was wonderful. What a difference between two people we visited. One is full of hope and the other is not. I am glad that I am at hopeful side. Lastly, we all thought grandma is so wonderful. I am kind of scare to be with my own grandmother. Am I jealous? I don't know. But I do know I prefer to be a wonderful person when I grow old.

0107. What kind of life I want
Recently, I talked to some friends. It made me think what kind of job I should be doing. I never like those over-working hours, especially no rewards to those exra hours. Like now, I am still in office after ten PM just to talk to vendor. My friends pointed out that there are other ways to get myself support. What we talk about is that work doesn't have to be 9 to 5. Some has irregular hours but still making money, like selling over internet. Some works shorter but entensive hours, like stock brokers. I am not sure which way will work for me. In any way, I hope I will enjoy the life every day.

0106. Some crazy days
After a few months, I moved, my working items adjusted a bit, and decided going home for Christmas. Suddenly, I feel tired. Every one is telling me to go back but I haven't heard "yes" from above yet.
Well, even though my job has a big of change but still not quite in the right area. We all joke about it saying that we have three people but only one doing works related to Usability. Waiting for the day that I can really do Usability!

0105. Me? Excellence? You gotta be kidding!
This is not the first hear people say I am excellent.
What exactly is the definition of excellence?
I never think myself as excellence
I just have interests in many things
took another degree
Anything I can do, from my profession, computer, playing piano, etc.,
I only know them half deep
Is this counting as excellence? Just because it looks like I know everything?
I believe a person with excellence
is a person who understand a topic or a profession
very well and deep
I am not that kind of person
because I am easily to change my focus
Therefore,
please don't say I am excellent.

0104. Heat and Wind
It is extremely hot in Taiwan this year. In fact, it starts from June and probably because two July in this year Chinese Luner Calendar. The temperature is upto 36 degree during day time. Gush, 20+ is already hot in Vancouver. What a difference! Without air conditioner, it's hard to sleep well. I wonder how much electricity I will spend at the end of this summer, especially now the electricity fee is going up.
Where I live now is really bad in terms of air flow. I asked Jesus to send some wind in otherwise David will have a hard to sleep. Even though it is extremely hot, we have winds come in from time to time. Thank you, Jesus.

0103. Shoes
I broght a pair of shoes last year for a business trip. It only has quater inch pump, the colour close to skin colour. I didn't want to bring tones of stuff for just one week business trip. At same time, I knew there would be some walking. Hence, I was looking for a pair of shoes that good for walking and at work. I wear it almost all the time this past year. Now, i can't wear it for raining day. Looking down this pair of shoes on my feet, I think this is the fastest time I wore off shoes. Maybe I should buy another pair like this one.

0102. Dress Style
More than one person said something about dressing to me. I am not good at dressing myself and so used to the same styles and colours. Finding out a different dressing style is fun. The other day, I found out a brand of jeans, which have some enhancement on the leg shapes. It looks great and I will find a time to try them in store. But since I can't stand the heat, so there is no pants in the summer yet. I hope I won't over doing this :)

0101. Little Brother of mine
My little brother came over to stay for a few months. I found out one thing, he is good at being lost. On the other hand, he lost the fun of being lost because of I am too good at getting around. It should be good to spend sometime with him after all these years. I can see myself being busier in the next few months.

0099. Happy blog?!
I found out a friend left a message on my blog. He said, it's been a long time since I post a happy blog. A happy blog? I didn't notice that. Maybe it's true. It's easy to lose happiness when there are more work, more stuff we want and think too much. Maybe it's because I forgot to be thankful and finding new interesting things about life. Or it's because I forgot write. Maybe I shall change the way I write: whatever I wrote is what I want to remember.

Another re-org in the company. Basically, it is not much of difference beside changing departments and job titles. Who knows whether this is good or bad. I am not sure if I will still handle the same vendors yet. I only hope to get closer to what I studied before.

0097. Work and Life
One of our manager said something like this: Those who do not work overtime are already paid and shall not get bonus as rewards. I really don't know what to say about this. But it is too narrow view to judge who shall get bonus. Another I read an article about the difference between Chinese and Caucasian view of work and life. I agree to the author that many Chinese do not know what to do besides work. I truly think those who only know work are poor. They don't know what they can do at spare time besides work. We often being requested to get boarder view and learning more. But how can we improve ourselves when we offer all the time to the office? Therefore, we shall all our own private time -- for rest, family, house work and our own learning. Caucasian is better than us on this. I rather to be a person who knows how to live, instead of working machine.

0096. Future
A while ago, I got a card. In the card, there is a phrase from a professor said to his student. "No matter where you work, it has to be the place that you can apply what you learned." This is so close to my thoughts lately. From January, I have been thinking about my job direction. I haven't been able to do anything on what I learned at school. Even though I moved to a new position, there is not much chance to get deeply involved in that area. Going to a new job is definitely happening. I just don't know when. I think it will be all crystal clear when the time is up.

0094. Narnia
I feel like being away from people. Partially because of work, it is also because the tireness. But I still went to see the first movie of Narnia with friends. I am really familiar with the story of Narnia. I had a whole chinese set fifteen years ago. I read them from time to time. Every time I read, I discovered some new understanding. The movie is not too far away from the book, with amazing computer effects.
I felt better after watching the movie. While walking along home, I had time to think several things.
* Edmund went to Narnia, followed by Lucy, but denied Lucy is right. Human's pride often lets us step away from acknowledging we are wrong.
* Fox (I don't remember there is such character in the book) looks like more on the evil side. But it is faithful to Aslan. What shows outside is not exactly who we are.
* Susan received a horn as a gift, which brings help when blow. In the Prince Caspian, the help is coming after blowing horn but not arriving right away. Just like Daniel prayed, God did listened but the help arrived after days. Therefore, our prayer reach to God in heaven but we have to be patient sometimes.
* Edmund's desire almost got himself killed.
* Aslan said to Peter, Susan and Lucy let the past be past. This is forgiveness and forget, just like God forgive and forget our transgressions.
* In the book, Lucy didn't watch Edmund get fully healed (opposite to the movie). Aslan said to her, "must more sacrificed for Edmund?" I think God asks us to do what we shall do and believe God will take care what we care for.
* "Once King or Queen of Narnia, forever King and Queen of Narnia." This is the same as children of God.

0093. Choir
For a long time, I didn't join any choir. After Christmas celebration, I thought it would be nice to have few people practice together. I love acapella and it would be wonderful to do it well. I don't get people to sing acapella but there are small choir starting practice at church. Even though it is not exactly what I am thinking but at least I get to sing new songs. I surprise myself too. I can sing to the high A.

0092. Breakfast
There is a breakfast bar near by where I currently live, which sells a pretty good tuna-egg sandwich. It has quite a bit of tuna with some veggies. It only cost about one dollar CDN, including a drink. It's quite enough for one meal.
NB. It's very common to see those breakfast bar in Taiwan. They sells all kinds of sandwiches and some burgers. Sandwiches is made of two pieces of bread (may be toasted), veggies, egg, and your choice of main filling (Ham, cheeze, etc).

0091. New Year
On the way home after church meeting, people were everywhere from Taipei Main Station to home. I never understand what is the point of celebrating New Year and why everyone is so over-excited. One of my colleagues walked home at three in the morning because she couldn't get a taxi at all. I probably will only be excited about Jesus in my entire life.

0089. Faith moments in my life, Part I
[I was asked to wrote something about faith, for ShiLin Zion Church monthly newsletter]
When I look back my life, there are some moments I learned trusting God.
One special moment was my undergraduate study. I decided to leave home for university. I made that decision simply because I never left home for study. Quite honestly, I don't think at that point of my life I understood what I did was a faith walk. Anyways before I left, a friend of mine gave me a verse I treasure dearly:
the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
~ Psalm 121: 8
With that blessing, I set out for the new chapter of my life. The first thing I planed to do after arriving dorms was finding a place to worship. I didn't know where I could worship before I arrived except I heard there is one chinese church. Well, I did the church hunting with the telephone directory. I opened up the telephone directory and looked for the churches near by my dorm. I went to four different churches on first four Sundays. I didn't have any feeling at all as I went in and out of three churches. But as soon as I walked into the third church, Bethel church, my tears ran out. It was a deepest feeling - I was home. So I stayed at Bethel during the time I was there. I did go to another church once and thought about changing to that church. But I decided not to do so because I never forget the feeling of being home and believed Bethel was the place for me. During those years, it did prove that Bethel was the church God prepare for me. I had wonderful time there with church pastors and members. I learned quite a lot from them, such as hospitality. One thing that engraved in my heart is how God used Sunday sermons to talk to me. I was in the downside of the hill. Those sermons were like God knocking some sense into my head.
An year and half after I finished my undergraduate degree, I applied for local graduate school at home. About three months prior to school year started, I got the notice from the school and asked me to confirm to go. I was afraid at that time. The reason is that I wasn't sure studying was what I supposed to do. The next morning, I think, I had my devotion on Daniel 10, about Daniel's vision. God provided his encouragement to me, first half of the verse 19:
"Do not be afraid, O man highly esteemed," he said, "Peace! Be strong now; be strong."
I was loved by God. Not only "do not be afraid", I also got "peace" to go. Studying wasn't easy. There were several times I had doubts - why was I doing there? Computing science wasn't my favorite dream of profession. I might even have thinking give-up the study at one point. However, this verse always jumped out to stop any negative thought I had. The last year and half my study was the reward. I enjoyed so much the time that I even thought of staying at school. I am so glad that I trusted God's promise to me.

Today is division social event. As usual, we went to a restaurant to eat. This restaurant is so expensive, approximately $35-$40 CDN. Food is cooked in front of us on a big iron plate. It's kind of fun to watch chief cooking. There are about 10 peoples on each table. The food is excellent but not much, just enough for filling my stomach.

0087. No more fees for internet!
I found this place at the intersection of HsinYi and KungFu. It is eCoffee. This eCoffee store is much bigger than most of their other store I know. They even have hot pots! But most of important is that I can use internet without extra charge. Of course, I got to purchase a drink or something. I can use my computer online for about two hours, which save about a hundred dollars. Hey, it's worth it!

0085. Memorizing Bible verses vs. Life
Recently, I just found out days are different with or without memorizing Bible verses. Days without memorizing Bible verses, emotion and work are not that smooth. Now has a better understanding why we need to treasure God's words in our hearts. God's words is an invisible help in our daily lives. We may not understand at beginning. It's easier to understand after we lose those things.

0084. Work Swirl (13)
These days are so busy to a point that I didn't have time to write blogs. In fact, I am writing this blog while I am off office and in a workshop. How ironic is that! Anyways, let's talkb about my work. I am currently assigned TEN topics. Some topics are big and some are small. As a beginner, this is pretty heavy for me. In fact, I just had an emotional break down last night (there are other causes besides work). It's a mixed feeling here. I know I will learn a lot in a short time with workload like this. But it's hard for my body and mind to handle so much information at one time. This coming weekend, I will have to think this all over. Perharps, some of the topic should leave out. I can't get into the details of my work here for confidentiality issue. But I do wish I have a sister in Christ can talk about at work.

0082. Who is gonna changed?
Recently, I have heard something about change. Someone applied the 80/20 princeple saying that 80% of people try to change others while 20% of people change themselves. I wholeheartly agree this. We, as human, always wish people change to the ways we like/work. However, changing another person is impossible. A person makes changes only because he or she decides to change, not because of others' words. Therefore, the wise people are those 20% of human beings. As for me, I don't think I among those 20% yet.

0081. Super Wind
I didn't sleep well last night. I heard strong wind blow several times. The wind was so strong that I started to think the house going to be destroyed. Even though the house is not going to destroyed, walking outside must be very tough. Signs, trees, and electricity lines could be brought down by wind. Staying outside not only has to against the windiness also watches out any thing dropped out of nowhere. There is a hospital near by where I live. This is the first time that I hear quite a few ambulance sounds. So there are quite a bit accidents happened this time. I wonder how bad it is after the typhoon leaves this afternoon.
I heard, over the radio, some expert mentioned that the wind gets stronger when the temperature of ocean gets higher during typhoon developing. Will the fact that the temperature of the earth is getting higher and higher cause typhoon bringing in the stronger wind? Who knows? No one dares to make the conclusion. Is there going to be a wind in the future so strong that can blow away cars??

0080. What shall we do at the days of Typhoon
Typhoon is here again. Usually, we would know if the day is off in the morning. This time is different, 'cause it is really windy and rainy before Typhoon steps onto the island. The wind is big enough to break my big umbrella. :'( My big umbrella is a good one, its bones not too bad. Actually, all typhoons this year brings in strong wind as well as the huge rain. I often heard people still go around the cities during those typhoon days. I pity them because they have no clue what could do on typhoon days. Today, from my colleague's typhoon-day activity, I realize that some people really ..., never mind, I don't know how to describe these. My colleague got off the work early and guess where she went? KTV!!! (NB. for those you don't know, KTV is a place to sing.) I can't believe this! Sing on those days. I am totally speechless. As for me, house chores, writing, reading, crafting, lots of things to do. I don't need to KTVing to pass time!

0079. Work Swirl (11)
A big surprise waited for us when we arrived at the office, especially for several male colleagues.
The head of this department, vice president, wrote an e-mail inform the entire department changes of human resources. This change was ordered on August 18th by the president. Basically, he re-organized the company into four divison: manufacture, customer relation (CPM), research and development (RD), and quality assurance (QA). RD contains two sets of hardware RD, Wireless RD, and application software RD.
Therefore, there is huge move of people and works between departments. Even though all QA suppose to merge to the large division, but managers in our department wish to keep a few for internal quality controls. However, the job description for staying in the department is not clear. From the time we knew this, we all thought we have the rights to decide whether to go or stay.
Besides my boss, I am the first to know where to go. Originally, I sent an e-mail letter to vice president and wish have a chat about my future development. Praise the Lord, I never thought that this is also happened to the time of change and therefore, I have new direction of work. One of the change is that third party applications and licensing are now combined with application software development. Those third party stuff require several people to handle communication, survey, and verifications. I don't want to be a QA for rest of my life. This new job has similar skills of planners. Therefore I decided to take the new job. The new job title is Feature PM (FPM). During the whole time, I have peace. Believe God will help and lead me at the new work.
As for my rest of colleagues, well, the e-mail we received in the morning decided their futures. For those having hard time to make decisions, they are happy that someone made the decisions for them. But it is a surprise to those three being ordered to stay, especially the one who wished to go to testing division. He didn't expect to stay and was in a crappie mood. I was surprised that top management didn't speak to those three colleagues before they announced the change. I don't agree the way they did. We all thought we have the right to make decisions but never thought the fate is arrived before decisions are made. Then why don't they assign at the beginning? Now I am more curious how top managers are going to comfort them.

0078. Skype v.s. Google Talk
Skype is really poplular these days. It is so convenient to talk over interent without paying large sum of long distance phone bill. PChome Online, an internet service in Taiwan, also made Skype popular by incorporated Traditional Chinese display. When I first tried Skype, it has the ability to call a fixed line. Now, Skype also provides voice mail services and virtual numbers that others can call in. My division at work even officially requested us to use Skype for internal quiet communications.
Last week, Google announced Google Talk. The UI of Google Talk is a bit like iChat I am using on my iBook. In fact, I can log in with iChat. So far, only people who owe a Gmail account can log in to use. But, if I invite a person who has no Gmail account, Google will send out an invitation to that person. However, if someone's Gamil account has no invitation, then Google only sends out notification without a link to registar a Gmail account. This Talk application does not have many features as Skype - talk and text chat.
Skype is used widely these days. Therefore, Google Talk now has better voice quality (less trafic). It's hard to tell which one will win the battle. Skype functions widely while Google Talk still in beta version. It will be interesting to watch those "talk" battles.

0077. Work Swirl (10)
Several weeks ago, I changed my attitude while chatting with another colleague about my current status. Not long after our chat, we are reading two books related to work attitudes in our group study. I also read a similar sentence in the book "Investing yourself". The point is the attitude we use to face the situation. The situation may not be the best. However, our attitudes affect our working methods and feelings. Therefore, I decided to talk to my boss, not just work quietly. When I started thinking from a different angle, I felt different.
There are discussions in these days, about the structure changes within the company. We, as QA, are either going to another bigger QA department, or stay at current department with a different title. I may change my job. I will go to the details once everything settled.

0073. Work Swirl (8)
I still remember while I was at home this past March, being asked if I am going to back to North America. My answer was yes but I did promise to stay in this company for at least 2-3 years. I didn't think the time for change is near. However, I started to think about the possibility after getting back and talking to my colleagues.
My department has a new group of people. I am more interested in what they do because it is closer related to what I learned in school. The end of June, I had a chance to talk to some of them. I have a feeling that it is not going to be easy to transfer to their group. I doubt their leader will ask me to join them if there is vacancy. Well, experience is one of the blocking factors and the shortage of testing engineers is another one. The new colleague sitting beside me once told me that I am like someone's secretary. My current job is project releases and its scheduling, not much of actual testing. I asked our manager. He can not put me into the position we planed because the shortage of people. Our projects are multiples of last year, which means the work load is multiple. Our team leader has problem to communicate with others. To let work go smoothly, our manager order me to handle the scheduling, which is supposed to be team leader's job.
I am not happy with the whole situation. Well, next March will be my full two year here, which is the time I promised. I will be leaving if the situation is not changed.

0072. Work Swirl (7)
I will be going for a business trip in mid June. Up to now, we will stop at German for sure. Orignally, I was told that we may stop at Span. But now we may go England, possible France as well. But my preparation of trip was not quite smooth though. This trip is for the Video telephony. We don't have enough resources due to the still developing environment in Taiwan. I let others use the devices for other applications testing since we didn't have many. Right now, we have enough devices but lack of USIM. I thought I could use this weekend to get more familiar with the device and applications; however, my colleague, who tests Video telephony full time, was told on Friday to work extra hours on Saturday. This implies no testing for me over the weekend. My colleague and I hope I can do the testing while he is busy with other things. Just wish everything goes smoothly!
My company has developed several new devices this past six months. I like one small size PDA phone with keyboard attached. But right now, it is not quite stable for smoother use. New Smartphones are continuation of previous ones. Since it is a bit tedious to type on Smartphone, I prefer PDA phone. The device made for Video Telephony is design for business users. It has been described as electronic dictionary (very common devices in east Asia). Well, it does, plus a rotatable screen. Actually, it is not too bad. The design aims to use on the table. Typing is pretty convenient with keyboard. The size can not be smaller than most PDA phone with that large size of keyboard though. Many of colleagues said this device is too heavy. We even joke this device is a brick, which can hit people ^^ Sorry I can't show you what this device looks like yet, since it is not out in the market yet. Just wait another few months, I will have the pictures for you.

0071. Keeping Sabbath
I can't remember since when I started to take Sabbath seriously. Maybe because I had an experience of blessing 15th years ago for keeping Sabbath. Maybe because Dad's order. All I know is that I have to keep Sabbath no matter what happened, unless there is a business or class I can not avoid. Therefore, it shocked me when a friend of mine not keeping Sabbath when she is on vacation. Keeping Sabbath is one of the ten commandments that God gave. God was angry with his people when they didn't keep Sabbath. So in my mind, this is not something I should compromise. I never really understand why people does not keep Sabbath.

0070. The time is near
Just read a part of "The Call": "The time is up and I will not give more chances to the people who say believe in Me but do not follow Me. Those who are not cold nor hot among my people will be removed." (Translated from Chinese, not originally English text) It's hard to describe my feeleing. The prayer I have is that, Dear God, I don't want to be among those whom you about to remove. Help me live more faithfully before you.

0069. The Helpless(2)
This is to clarify last post. Not long ago, one of the colleague gave me a book to read - Good Luck. The main message of this book is that we can not change fate but we are the one to create luck. It also includes some principles so that readers can apply to their lives. It takes some time to think through these principles in order to apply them into the current situations and life. We happened to study the helpless on the evening of the day I finished that book. I thought about these principles a little bit prior to the Bible study. During the Bible study I realized I don't need to spend time on these principles. The gentile is trying to make more money by using these principles. Jesus is all in all and it's enough to have him. Also, these principles may not help me to get closer to God. I don't need to spend time on these principles. Trust in the Lord because the Lord our God gets closer to the helpless!

0068. The Helpless
Lately, we are studying Psalms in the Bible. They are many psalms are about the helpless. And these psalms usually end with prayers to God. How ironic that we forget God till we have difficulties! Also, these psalms mention another type of people - the wicked. Often, only a thin line between the helpless and the wicked. For example, the helpless becomes the wicked when others become miserable because he lets out his downside of emotion of being the helpless. I think I need to be reminded often that I am the helpless; otherwise, I am way too easy to forget God.

0066. Memorize Bible verses
A month ago, Sister Wu started to memorize Bible verses with Brother Tung and Sister Lu. They invited me but I didn't have time to memorize one whole chapter each week. Sister Chao felt that we shouldn't be left behind so invited me to do English verses memorization. We both thought it is too much to memorize a whole chapter at beginning. Therefore, we start one verse at time from the list that Pastor Tsao created. Hehe, see how long we can do this.

0065. Work Swirl (6)
I have been working crazy as soon as my feet steped on Taiwan. 12 hours in the office are pretty normal these days. Last month, I even have to work on Saturday (tight schedule). Right now, I am doing more management side than testing. Since I came back, I have been doing all project releases, communications with PMs and RDs, and support others on testing. Well, these definitely keep me busy all the time.
Do I enjoy? So far, I am not against what I am doing right now. But I am not happy either. I like travel so it will be cool to go on business trips. I get jealous when my colleagues get chances to go for business trips. Also, I have became others' "trash can" (they dump their emotions to me) lately. I got more depressed and disappointed because of the informations from them (about work and people). I began to wonder why on earth I am doing as QA. At the position and work I am doing, I am not going anywhere near my dream professional as HCI consultant. At same time, I don't dare to move at all. God took me to this work environment and I believe He will take me to next work when the time is up. The feeling is frustrated. Well, the good part is because the frastration, I have no choice but cling to God.
One of my colleagues guessed that I have been put into the position to save others. He also mentioned the boss wouldn't give me the most tedious but yet important works unless he trusts me. Maybe he is right. All I wish is that I have more chance to get my hands on HCI.

0064. "I Am Here"
I shared this song when I made a testimony this morning at church. I learned this song a few weeks back at company fellowship. It was nothing special when I first heard it. But it moved me after we sang couple of times.
I am here because of your grace
I am here because of your love
Lord Jesus, I am so thankful
for your grace abounds to me
Thank you Jesus, Jesus
Jesus, thank you Jesus
It's only by your grace
That I could live today
Forever I will praise your name.
It's so easy to thank God for whatever materials we have. When God takes us move forward, we obey. But we may not thank God for his leading. At least I never give thanks to God for where I am standing. There is nothing to be complained about at my current company. Instead more praises needed for where I am right now, either at work or at home.
